Your questions answered
Runway and Helipad Markers
Q: What are the runway markers made of?
A: Manufactured from tough polypropylene, they use the latest retro-reflective material to ensure maximum visibility from a wide variety of approach angles. A military version which is NVG (Night Vision Goggle) compatible is also available.
Q: What shape and size are the runway markers?
A: We produce AeroCones and AeroPanels. The AeroPanels are used to mark the beginning and end of the runway while the AeroCones can be used to mark out a helipad or mark the length of the runway. For runways, the markers are two-sided and for a helipad they are four-sided.
Q: What colour are the runway markers?
A: We currently supply markers in yellow-green, blue, silver (which glows white) and red, depending on the requirements of the customer.
Q: How much do the runway markers weigh?
A: As they are made of polypropylene they are very light and easy to transport and assemble. Typically, an AeroCone will weigh less than 1 kilogram. They are also extremely durable and weather-resistant.
Q: Are the runway markers visible in all weather conditions?
A: Due to the design of the markers, visibility (and therefore safety) is greatly increased on dull days and in low light conditions.
Q: How are the runway markers transported?
A: They are flat-packed for ease of transport. They come in sections which can easily be assembled. One person would be able to put one together in approximately 30 seconds.
Q: How do you fasten the runway markers to the ground?
A: If the airstrip is on grass, you can screw them into the ground using ground anchors, similar to large tent pegs. Alternatively, with concrete or asphalt, you can bolt them down. They can also be weighted down with sand or stones to keep them stable.
Q: How many markers would you need for a small airfield?
A: This would obviously depend on the size of the airfield but the guidelines suggest that the markers should be placed not more than 30 metres apart.
Q: How many markers would you need for a helipad?
A: Typically eight or twelve arranged in a square, but this would depend on where the helipad is situated. If it is surrounded by buildings or trees, for example, we would recommend extra lead-in markers for optimum visibility.

Emergency Signs
Q: What are your emergency signs made of?
A: They are manufactured using the latest Strontium-based photoluminescent pigments. They require no lamps or batteries and can charge from very low light conditions. At 24 hours they will still be glowing brightly enough to be visible to the dark-adapted human eye.
Q: Do you only supply emergency signs for the aviation industry?
A: No, we can produce signs for boats and buildings, anything from yachts to shops and offices.
Q: Would you be able to produce signs according to my design and size specifications?
A: We are able to provide almost anything you require as long as you provide the relevant artwork. The photoluminescent pigment is applied to PVC vinyl or on to foil which is non-flammable.

Acoustic and Thermal Insulation
Q: I have an old historic aircraft which needs re-insulating and refurbishing. Can you supply acoustic and thermal insulation panels?
A: Yes. Given the exact dimensions and quantity of panels required we can manufacture them according to your specifications.
Q: Do the panels conform to EASA Specifications?
A: Each insulation panel contains a non-combustible sound reduction layer combined with a flame-proofed material that conforms to EASA Specification (CS 25.853A) app F part (a) 1 (i). The panels are sewn using Nomex thread.
